WE ENTER GLACIER COUNTRY IN NEW ZEALAND - Red Stag Hut

Join me as I leave Macauley Hut and head up the Godley Valley with it's stunning glacier topped peaks. It almost gets as wild as a 4WD 24-7 trip, but not really.... :)

Our final destination is Red Stag Hut where we spend the night.

The Red Stag hut is a well-managed 4-bunk hut, which is owned and maintained by the South Canterbury branch of New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association.

On the hills around the hut you can find Tahr and Chamois if you have a keen eye. They are not easy to spot, but on this occasion I did manage to spot a bull and two cows.
