Drive from King to Hwy 400 || "A Prayer for God's Blessing" by R Cottrill
Few people have had such an impact on the world of Canadian hymnology as Robert E.W. Cottrill. Here you can listen to the words of Canadian hymn, "A Prayer for God's Blessing" while enjoying the slow, scenic drive along King Road from Nobleton (part of King) to Highway 400.
Not only did Hamilton-born Robert E.W. Cottrill write the hymn, "A Prayer for God's Blessing" (1975), he contributed a lot of background information for the Cyber Hymnal
(www.hymntime.com/tch) (posting words & audio for more than 8,200 hymns). He taught classes on the subject (in Saskatchewan and Ontario) and ran his own extensive blog called www.wordwisehymns.com in which he discussed the "history and biblical themes of hymns of the church." Cottrill furthermore wrote a weekly newspaper column on the subject of English hymnody ("the singing or composition of hymns").
The hymn is read by Gargoyle who is a volunteer reader of public domain works at Librivox. To listen to the tune of "A Prayer for God's Blessing," also written by Cottrill, visit: http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/p/r/a/y/prayerfg.htm. The tune is called "Fair Haven."
A Prayer for God's Blessing
"Here we would see Jesus, wearied with the journey,
We turn again to be renewed and know His touch of pow’r.
Yes, we would see Jesus thru the Scriptures shining;
Lord, lift the veil of earthly sense and meet us in this hour.
We beheld His glory, thus when homeward wending,
Our hearts will echo with the chorus of redeeming love.
We beheld His glory, and go forth to serve Him,
Till faith gives way to joyous sight in mansions up above."

Nobleton is a community in southwestern King, Ontario, Canada, near King City and Schomberg and found south of the Oak Ridges Moraine.
Highway 400 is known as one of the first modern highways in Ontario. You can take Highway 400 North (to Barrie) or Highway 400 South (to Toronto) as you approach the highway on-ramp as seen in this video at King City (from Nobleton). This area is very beautiful with kilometres of gorgeous country land - yet amazingly King is situated close to the city. King is part of the Greater Toronto Area.
Cottrill wrote the elegant hymn read in the video at a family camp called Fair Havens in Beaverton, Ontario.
