I discuss the Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez breakup. I am a 20 year divorce attorney, and I have seen all the red flags of a bad marriage. In this video, I discuss three of Jlo’s red flags. The first red flag of her is simply the amount of times she has been married. All the studies show that the probability of a successful marriage decreases as the number of divorces increases. Jennifer Lopez has been divorced three times, and has been engaged five times. This is a bad sign. Many people get married based on ideas of love. After a person has been divorced so many times, they understand the true nature of a marriage: it is a contract. I explain the concept of an individual actor verses an institutional player. Jlo is absolutely an institutional player in the marriage/divorce industry, and that is not a great quality to have in a wife.

The second red flag is that she is extremely ambitious. Being ambitious is an excellent quality to have in a person. But, it can ruin a marriage—for both men AND women. I recently did a video on The Tech Lead, where he worked 90 and 100 hour weeks. That took a devastating toll on his marriage. If your spouse works so much, when does your spouse have time for you? They don’t. In this case, Jennifer Lopez is worth over $450 million. She told the press that she is happy she is with Alex Rodriguez because she finally “found a partner who can keep up with me.” She did not say that she found the love of her life. She did not say that she found the man of her dreams. She found “a partner who can keep up.” This marriage was never about love in the first place. Alex Rodriguez needs to find a relationship wherein he will be prioritized. Not a relationship where his “partner” will prioritize her own career over him. That is a huge red flag.

A third red flag is her age. I have seen countless marriages fall apart because of “dead bedroom” situations. Alex Rodriguez is 45 years old, and he can easily get a vibrant 30 year old MBA graduate with her own business. Jennifer Lopez is not 30 years old. Jennifer Lopez is 51 years old. The Mayo Clinic says that menopause typically begins when a woman is 51 years old.

If women should not settle, then men should not either. Period. Alex Rodriguez is in the PRIME of his LIFE. Settling should NOT be an option for him. He has worked too hard. There is no reason why he needs to settle for a woman who has been engaged five times, and woman who will prioritize her own career over him, and a woman who The Mayo Clinic expects to begin menopause in a few months. Alex Rodriguez can find a better choice for a wife.
