HAWAIIAN Cigars? Kauai Cigar Co Island Prince Sun Grown Momona - CIGAR REVIEWS by CigarScore

Over our years of travel, we've learned that a great way to understand and learn about a culture or community is through their food. So, why not also learn about them through their cigars?

Today's cigar is the Kauai Cigar Co Island Prince Sun Grown Momona, a cigar that has part of its tobacco grown on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, and then finished in Nicaragua.

Right of the bat, after cutting the Island Prince with my guillotine, the cold draw was good and offered up flavors that were woody and leafy. Once lit, the aroma of the smoke reminded me of chocolate cake and leather.

Final Thoughts

The Kauai Cigar Co Island Prince Sun Grown is an okay cigar, but it's an expensive one for the quality you get. Part of the expense is shipping the tobacco to and from Nicaragua. Part of the expense is selling the cigar at a shop where tourists visit. Part of the expense might be state and local taxes. Whatever the case, the Island Prince is not worth almost $14.

Price aside, the Kauai Cigar Co Island Prince Sun Grown isn't a bad cigar. It's very strong, very potent, and I would not recommend that you smoke this without eating something first. That said, I think this cigar would taste better with more age, or, perhaps a longer fermentation period.

Additionally, I had to retorch the cigar to fix a pretty significant burn problem, and the burn was ragged and uneven in the final third. However, the draw wasn't bad at all. All things considered, the Kauai Cigar Co Island Prince Sun Grown Momona earns a CigarScore 3.
