Night 2 of sucker spearing was epic! In this Michigan outdoors video we speared about 30 suckers for a good night of sucker spearing! In this fish spearing video I go roadside ditch fishing as part of Jason's family fishing tradition of Sucker spearing! I have never been sucker spearing before and couldn't wait to try spearing fish at night in shallow ditches. Fish spearing is something I had never done before but Jason has been trying to get me to do it for a few years. Last year covid messed up our plan to go sucker spearing but in 2021 I wasn't gonna let anything get in the way. Sucker spearing Michigan creeks is a long tradition among Jason's family so we traveled to the thumb of Michigan to do some roadside ditch fishing in Saginaw Bay tributaries. Drainage ditch fishing is wild because there is so much more life in these ditches and creeks than I would have guessed. We saw loads of pike in these roadside ditches as well as bass, some sort of perch looking fish and various minnows in addition to frogs, crayfish tadpoles, muskrats, birds and raccoons. Spearing northern pike is out of the question during this closed season so we had to be carful not to spear a pike. I missed the first few suckers in fear that they may be a pike rather than a sucker. Ditch fishing for sucker is crazy fun because of how engaging it is. Sight fishing has always been something I have loved to do but this is sight fishing on a whole nother level. I learned that sucker spearing requires stealth, focus and awareness of the nookes and crannies of the ditch. Spearfishing is so much fun It makes me want to try for other species like Carp or Gar. The only downside to fish spearing is there is no catch and release. I get a lot of enjoyment out of releasing the fish I catch so It is not something I would want to do all the time but Sucker spearing was so much fun that I wouldn't mind doing it again. Also sucker spearing for sucker fish makes for some exciting variety for my Michigan fishing videos. You can count on me for more Michigan fishing videos and Michigan outdoors videos and as the title suggests this is the first of 2 sucker spearing videos I will be releasing soon. Michigan fishing is my passion and fishing Michigan creeks and ditches with a spear was a lot more fun than I expected and It makes me want to do more roadside ditch fishing and maybe even more fish spearing videos. Ditch spearfishing is cool but I think the challenge of spear fishing a bigger river would be really fun and I can think of a few other spots where is would be fun to go spearing fish at night! I will continue fishing Michigan 2021 and I hope to add a large variety of new types of fishing videos this year! Make sure to stay tuned for Sucker Spearing Part 2 because we absolutely slayed the suckers on the 2nd night. So for more sucker spearing and other fish spearing videos as well as more roadside ditch fishing make sure to subscribe and stay tuned for more Michigan outdoors fishing videos.
