KILL the Moss in your Lawn! | Easy Removal in just a FEW days! | 2021/27

I am being overrun by lawn moss this year. It’s spring in the Pacific Northwest. And for me that means preparing my yard and lawn for coming season. This video will show the common man how to maintain his lawn with items from the big box stores, and not have to go through the challenges of purchasing professional grade materials, herbicides, and seeds to have an amazing lawn that makes your neighbors jealous.

I started off by mowing, trimming and edging may lawn to its regular height, for me that’s about 2 1/2" this year. This helps be see the large patches of moss and weeds that will need attention. In this video I am going to tackle the moss, which unfortunately grows unabated for most of the fall and winter, once the rain starts.

I normally use Lilly Miller's MOSS OUT, but this year I am going to try MossX from Scott's. I am a huge fan or their seed and fertilizer, so why not!

After I let it sit for a few day while I was out of town, the results were extremely evident. The moss had turned from a green/yellow to a brown and black. The MossX was very effective. I just followed the directions on the bag, and applied it with a Scott's Broadcast Spreader! WIN!

The next step was using a Power Dethatcher with a scarifying blade on it. To say this made quick work of the moss would be an understatement, it tore it from the ground and deposed it in a pile to be raked up and disposed of. If you don;t have a power rake/dethatcher/scarifier, you can use a rake with metal tines, or a dethatching rake, the goal is to get in there and pull it all out of the lawn!

The ground is now clear of moss and I can get on with the rest of my Spring lawn program! Check out the video and see how I did it, don’t forget to put your questions and suggestions in the comments!
