Modular Arithmetic

Hello there! For today's topic, I will be talking about Modular Arithmetic. We are so used to focusing on division and how many times a number can go into a different number. Modular arithmetic puts the focus on the remainder. You'll see modular arithmetic in two different formats. One form has parentheses and the other form does not. Keep in mind that the small difference in detail makes a big difference because the values are switched around.

# ≡ a (mod b)
a ≡ # mod b

In the two above forms, the # represents the dividend. The ≡ is an equivalence sign, not an equal sign. The a is the remainder and b is the divisor.
