Hongqi H9 is designed as a large-scale vehicle that will compete with, no less - no more, the German "holy trinity" comprised of sedans: the Mercedes-Benz S Class, the BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8. The H9 is the first model series to be developed by a former Rolls-Royce designer, Jul Taylor who was lured to the ranks by the FAW in 2018. However, in the studios of designers and engineers of the company, the life of a big sedan began in 2017, and so a major part of the product development work was done by a team of Chinese stylists led by Ding Janfen.

Although the newcomer cannot be said to have an original appearance, brand leaders claim that H9 is the founder of a new corporate identity, a style promoter that will later spill over to the full gamut. So, on the four wheels of this brand, we will often see sliding door openers as well as a two-color bodywork.

The interior of the limo is full of genuine leather and natural wood inserts. Two main displays are positioned on the centrally positioned panel, one with instruments and the other to monitor the settings of the multimedia system. In addition, there is another illuminated panel in front of the passenger.

The steering wheel has touch buttons, while in the ergonomic sense, the most controversial solution is the one that regulates engine starting with the push of a button. It is located between the keys used to control the operation of the air conditioner.

The manufacturer decided that the version of Hongqi H9 that would be the first to shine before the audience would be the most prestigious. This variant has two physically separate seats in the second row, which are individually adjustable with electric assistance, heating and ventilation. The Chinese have also announced a slightly more modest version that will have a unique bench back, one that offers accommodation for up to three people.

Other optional equipment items include a glass panoramic sunroof, rear-seat infotainment screens and virtually everything a spoiled western buyer could expect from a vehicle of this class.
