With the release of Resident Evil Village 8, sequel to the excellent Baker family horror game of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, we get to expand upon the first person horror game of the year and it's lore with Ethan Winters. Find out more about his fight against the Tall Vampire Lady Dimitrescu and her 3 daughters, among other bosses.

But in a recent developer and producer interview with Director Morimasa Sato and producer Tsuyoshi Kanda, they talk about how Resident Evil 8 shares more DNA with Resident Evil 4 than it does 7. And this has led them to trying to "evolved the action and combat the most" as well as restrict how scary RE8 is compared to RE 7. He describes Resident Evil 7 as a "true horror experience", which was "too scary to even play" and so they have significantly reduced RE 8 to a safe place to be, but with an occasional "peak" of horror.

I'm not sure if this is a change other people wanted, but to me, it leads to an entirely different game, an action orientated shooter, a "theme park of horror" in their words that just doesn't feel like a Resident Evil game anymore.
