Sunrise Photography at Washington Pass in North Cascades National Park

In today's video, I am going to take you through the North Cascades National Park in the State of Washington ( WA ). In specific the Washington Pass Overlook area as well as the Maple Pass Loop to photograph where I will do some panorama photography as well as a beautiful HDR photo.

The expanse of land in this park is so vast, the horizon is SO big it was borderline impossible to get it all in one shot. Even using my ultra wide Angle Tokina 11-20mm zoom lens!

Instead, I opted to take a wide panorama image of the Washington pass over look that I could later, in Lightroom, stitch together for a print.

While there, the variation in the sky was so different I thought I play around and plan to produce an HDR image later when I returned home.

If you aren't clear on the HDR, let me explain. To produce an HDR image, what you will need to do will be to shoot a series of shots, in this case, I shot 5. One shot at the "correct" exposure, and the subsequent shots each over and under exposed by varying stops (making it under exposed and over exposed).
A tripod is very necessary to make this shot as the scene cannot change at all.

In my camera, I set it to shoot them automatically with the single push of the shutter release.
It fired off the shots and I went on my way, to later, again, stack them together in Lightroom using the Lightroom HDR photo merge.

Later, the hike took me 7 miles on trail, ascending a significant amount of feet, to eventually get to the top of the Maple Ridge Loop trail. What a scene. The lark trees were in full fall color change creating a vast set of bright yellow larch pines all over the mountain range.

I have never seen anything like it. I snapped an amazing shot at the top of the ridge. I know you will love it.
