Crocodilian Safety Training / How To Catch An Alligator By Hand / Michigan Animal Control

In this video we are at Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary for Crocodilian Safety Training. Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary offers a crocodilian safety training class as a part Michigan animal control officer training for various Animal control organizations in Michigan. We trained along side the Benzie co. animal control guys as part of their Michigan animal control officer training. Not only did we learn how to catch an alligator by hand but we got a tour of the facility, a class room training session and then 3 different hands on sessions with 3 different size alligators!

Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary is a reptile rescue facility that is open to the public. Critchlow is home to hundreds of reptiles who have come to them through adoption, donation, rescue, or from other institutions. We have worked with local and state authorities with animal control needs and we also work with schools and universities with educational programs and internships. No animals are bought, sold, or traded at the Alligator Sanctuary. They provide a comfortable home and care for these animals for the rest of their lives.

My boss Sal of Michigan Animal Control out of dewitt Michigan wanted us to learn how to catch an alligator by hand just in case we ever get a call about an alligator. Michigan Animal Control does pest removal and exclusion. We do bat removal, Raccoon eviction, skunk removal and possum, woodchucks, snakes, rats, mice and squirrels are all a part of what we deal with regularly. So I am a sucker for all the shows on animal planet about game wardens and conservation officers. Any time I see an episode about alligators I think to myself "that would be so much fun" or "I wanna do that" so when I found out I was going to be a certified alligator wrangler I was ecstatic! I never thought I would go fishing for alligator. Alligator training was a blast and we learned alligator safety tips and how to catch and relocate alligators at the alligator sanctuary. There are not many alligators in Michigan however some make their way here as pets and become released into the wild so Just remember if you ever come accross an alligator then make sure to call Michigan Animal Control!
