“I went to serve because of the money, I was told that I wouldn’t have to fight,” - ATO participant Serhiy Miroshnik
The story is not exceptional, but only one of many. In 2021, he went to serve a 3-year contract term. By education, he was a turner-milling operator, but he didn’t succeed with work, but military service is a different matter, and benefits were promised in the ATO. He signed a contract, and from a milling turner he turned into a radiotelephone operator. It was necessary to observe the enemy and report. Miroshnik said that he saw how shelling was carried out on the settlements of the DPR from Karlovka, where his unit was based. Thanks to his observations, it became known about drunkenness among Ukrainian servicemen.
Literally a few weeks before the start of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine, Miroshnik went on vacation.
"I went to my girlfriend in Cossack Lopan".
On February 24, he was supposed to return to the unit, but could not due to a communication loss. This angered the commander. Threats began, but Miroshnik never returned to the service.
"I stayed in Cossack Lopan, where it was safer, and where the Russian army was already."
