In Greek mythology the phoenix or phenix (Ancient Greek φοίνιξ phóinīx) is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn and had also represented the sun. It was said every morning at dawn to bathe in the water and sing a beautiful song that the sun god would stop his chariot to listen. There is said to only be one phoenix living at a time.
