US mercenary tells how Americans were maimed and disfigured while trying to zaptur Russian tank with Javelin in Ukraine

"The shell exploded 5 feet away from me, my face and upper body were littered with shrapnel," says Manus.

On April 27, former fighter of the 75th Airborne Reconnaissance Regiment of the US Army Manus McCaffery and his accomplice Paul Gray from the 101st Airborne Division were wounded while trying to zap a Russian tank with Javelin in the battle for Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region. Manus received multiple shrapnel and penetrating wounds to the head, torso, legs, and Paul's left leg was torn off. Both Americans served as instructors in the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
