The Collar is a passerine bird of the Thraupidae family, whose scientific name is Sporophila caerulescens.
Also known as collar, collar-zel-zel, collar, papa-capim, pope-capim-de-collar, pope-rice, cross collar (Bahia) or collar-tuí-tuí, papa-mineiro (Paraíba) and collar (Ceará). It is the most popular species of the Pope-grass group, being also the most abundant in most places where it occurs.
Like all other members of the Sporophila genus, it can be called “papa-grass” accompanied by some other adjective.
The collared female is a passerine bird in the Thraupidae family. Also known as forest and coconut head (São Paulo), patativa (Interior of Bahia) and coleiro-mineiro due to the fact that it is more common in the region of Minas Gerais, where it is also known as white-breasted pretinho. to differentiate it from the black or Bahian (Sporophila nigricollis), this species is much more common.

Its scientific name means: from (Greek) seed spores; philos you like, friend; and slate-coloured (Latin) ardesiacus. ⇒ Bird that likes seeds and has a slate color.
Geographic distribution
It occurs in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and Bahia. Endemic species from Brazil.
