Thousands of Yazidis Flee Clashes from Embattled Iraq's Sinjar
Fierce clashes between the Iraqi army and Yazidi fighters have seen 3,000 people flee local areas - seeking asylum in the Kurdistan region of the territory.
They left after clashes intensified between the Iraqi army and the YBS, a militia organization linked to Turkey’s militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.
The majority of those displaced have been placed in camps until the crisis ends. The violence erupted on Sunday when Iraq launched an operation.
