LANA is an aesthetician, drag performer and Missouri’s first transgender homecoming queen. She remembers telling her high school friend when she came out as trans, but it took a bit longer to tell her mum. She sent her mum a text in the lead up to a cheerleading banquet saying she was wearing a dress, and her mum then didn’t attend the banquet. However when Lana won homecoming it was then clear to her family that she was happy as a trans woman in a school full of people who accepted her. Lana could also handle herself against the haters who protested outside her school.
