We Rode the Port Aransas Ferry & Did it Twice!

We came down to the Texas Gulf Coast to fly our drones for the City of Rockport Kite Festival on April 30th 2022. But we ended up with about 3 or 4 hours of free time between the end of the festival and the scheduled starting time of the nighttime kite flying exhibit. So after grabbing a wonderful dinner at a local Mexican restaurant in Rockport, we decided to head down the coast to ride the Aransas Pass Ferry. Twice. Obviously once we went across, we had to return via Ferry, or spend hours driving that we really didn't want to waste doing.

So, out came the GoPro camera with a fresh battery and away we went! TXDOT operates this ferry system 24/7, although the number of active ferries will vary by time of day and volume of traffic. They are not intended to take on 18-Wheelers. The crossing is very quick once you got on the ferry, less than 15 minutes each way.
