Will high temp gasket maker work on my Rhino HD tiller gearbox leak?

After changing the gear ratio on my Rhino HD tractor tiller, it developed a leak in the gasket of the gear box. I tried snugging the bolts up a little, but that did not work. I then spoke with a tractor dealer and ordered a new gasket for the tiller. However, the gasket they sent me was clearly not the right one. The gasket on the Rhino HD tiller gearbox was a formed gasket and the one that they sent me was a small, round gasket, barely the size of the end of a sharpened pencil! So, after unsuccessfully finding the right formed gasket for the gearbox leak I decided to try a high temp, red gasket maker. I did talk to my buddy the Plot Slayer since he has a lot more experience than me in this arena and he said to go ahead and re-use the original gasket but just use a little less of the gasket maker (gasket 'sealer' and gasket 'maker' are different products).
