Rolls-Royce is a well-known brand of executive cars for many decades. But do you know when exactly and under what circumstances these English cars became truly super-popular? This happened in the distant 60s, and this was facilitated by advertising, which is still considered one of the best of all time.

In 1960, the advertising agency Ogilvy, Benson and Mather signed a contract with the British to advertise a Rolls-Royce car. For 3 weeks, David Ogilvie communicated with engineers, learned literally every detail about the design of machines. As a result, it generated as many as 100 advertising headlines. However, the only one that later brought Rolls-Royce fame was the headline published 20 years earlier.

It read: "At sixty miles an hour, the loudest sound in a brand-new Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock." One of the responsible English engineers of the company even reacted to this as follows:: "We need to do something about our watch."
