4/17/2022. While we were in the area we stopped by here at what is known as the smallest post office in the United States. We apologize for no audio again we have technical difficulties because when using the selfie stick in the wired push button it disconnects the microphone unfortunately we found this out later on in the day. For those of you that are interested in reading the plaque here is the text from the plaque below:
 OCHOPEE POST OFFICE
Considered to be the smallest post office in the
United States, this building was formerly an irrigation
Pipe shed belonging to the J.T. Gaunt company Tomato farm
It was hurriedly pressed into service by postmaster Sidney brown after a
disastrous night fire in 1953 burned Ochopee's
general store and post office. The present structure has been in continuous use ever since as both a post office and ticket station for Trailways bus
lines-and still services residents in a three-county
area, including deliveries to Seminole and.Micceruhee Indians living in the region.
Daily business often includes request from tourists and stamp collectors the world over for the famed Ochopee post mark.
The property was acquired by the Wooten Femly
in 1992

When we approached the post office we noticed all these what I’m going to call very large “grasshoppers”. If anybody knows what they actually are please leave a note in the comments. We have only ever seen them here. They were all over the property in the grass , climbing the signs and the flag pole. They have very interesting colors. Thanks for watching.
