Dead Space, Playthrough, Chapter 9 "Dead On Arrival"

Uh oh, Hammond died in this chapter. No way I could help him. I settled on the flame thrower over the force gun.. not sure that was a wise decision as I had applied some upgrades to it. Any suggestions? I am half attempted to try the contact beam or ripper weapons next.
