Woodturned Art - Shou Sugi Ban Cypress

Friend asked me to do a piece of wood art for a Boy Scout auction and fundraiser. I chose Cypress because of its ability to take a burn without cracking too much and the effects you can get with the grain.

I used simple Rit dye to color the outside of the bowl and then used a homemade gold embellishing wax. It was finished with a coat of microcrystalline wax.
