Many people believe the Old Testament says the Israelites conquered the Canaanites completely and replaced the population. The Old Testament doesn't actually say that and neither does the archeology. Now DNA research shows the land of Israel and Palestine is populated with people who share DNA with the Canaanites that have been found buried in the region. Really??

Channel Dad Bryon Lape reads an article on the National Geographic website about a DNA study. The article is written by Andrew Lawler. Want to know more? Here is the link to the article.

The article reveals the surprising heritage of these mysterious Bronze Age people. Who exactly were the Canaanites? When did they appear? Were they a single people or a mix of various people groups who migrated into the area of Israel and Palestine at different times? How much like the Canaanites listed in the Old Testament were these people? The DNA test does help to piece a few things together, but more study is needed.

What about the other people listed in the Old Testament as living in this area? What of the Judean, Moabite, Ammonite? Those DNA studies will soon be coming, hopefully.
