Laurie Gaddis Barrett, of Parents United RI (www.parentsunitedri.com) and a very recognizable figure across the state, opposes this bill mainly that government has no purpose or place in the sex lives of their children.
She rightfully cites that it’s still legal for teachers to have sex with their students if above the age of fourteen. Teaching pleasure based sex to that age group will only exacerbate the issue.
Parents are the experts when it comes to teaching family values, not government.
