Winter Gardening: Zone 7 Mid January Seedling update

January update reveals the seedlings that are two weeks old. Seeds planted in January by the almanac are near one hundred percent germination on stubborn lavender, thyme, moringa, and lots of early spring color.

The persimmon seeds are not ready to sprout yet. I placed them in the cool (above freezing) to release the sprouting enzyme in this native seed. I will treat with mycorrhiza and bring back into the warm.

Staring seed indoors in January comes with challenges. Having the space, equipment, and know how to start seeds is an incorporated skill and is developed through experience. Our third year starting herbs, flowers, perennial, for the garden.

Zone 7A/8B we are in a boundary zone micro climate on the banks of a seasonal creek. Expanding the food production, natural ecosystems that will blend food production, medicinals, and aesthetic plantings. To support bees, butterflies, and all the beautiful life on this garden.
