In Defense of Free Speech

Ever since Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion on the basis of "free speech," his critics ferociously dissented. Many argued that Elon's purchase of Twitter would forego content moderation and unleash a flood of "hate speech." Regulators in various jurisdictions, such as Europe, are preliminarily threatening Twitter with punitive measures if they don't moderate their content to the EU's standards. Indeed, there's also much talk about the first amendment.

Many are arguing that the 1A does not apply to private companies, and therefore "free speech" should not exist on Twitter. Mr. Watson offers a philosophic defense of freedom of speech (free speech) which evaluates the nature of the concept itself, and then works upwards. He examines how free speech goes beyond legal or cultural boundaries, and is a universal necessity for the existence of civilization. Watch for more!
