Wild Monkey Lights a Lighter!

We encountered this wild capuchin money lighting himself on fire with a Bic lighter in the park in Misahualli, Ecuador today, proving that monkeys have discovered fire. He repeatedly lit himself ablaze so that he could eat the charred fur. This is an example of a non-human animal making fire and cooking food, perhaps the first time this has ever been recorded! The monkey was not injured, and according to locals, he does this all the time. He loves to eat his own burned hair.
