It's PRETTY Good - The ATABEY DUENDAS Torpedo - CIGAR REVIEWS by CigarScore

Some cigar brands are understated. Some cigar brands are classic and timeless. Other brands, like the name behind today's cigar, will do everything they can to increase the mystique and mystery behind their cigars. Today we're smoking the Atabey Duendas Torpedo, a cigar that costs over $30; let's see if it's worth the hype.

As you should expect from a cigar in this price range, the Atabey Duendas is just about visually perfect. The cold draw offered up hints of cinnamon.

After toasting then torching the foot, the first flavors were light and citrusy and quite delicious, and I wondered, “Could this be the cigar that changes my mind about Atabey?”

Through the middle of the cigar, the burn was decent, and the flavors were pretty good. The flavors were both citrusy and creamy, but buttery smooth.

Final Thoughts

After spending only 80 minutes with this cigar, I'd say that the Atabey Duendas Torpedo is “pretty good.”

The draw became a little too tight as I got deeper into the cigar. The burn was mostly even but not razor sharp. And, in the final third, the flavors became a little sour and I didn't enjoy that last 25 minutes or so.

While this cigar was good (and started out pretty great) it just didn't finish very well. So, the Atabey Duendas Torpedo earns a CigarScore 4.
