Islândia (em islandês: Ísland; [ˈistlant] (Sobre este somescutar (ajuda•info))), é um país nórdico insular europeu situado no oceano Atlântico Norte.[9] O seu território abrange a ilha homônima e algumas pequenas ilhas no oceano Atlântico, localizadas entre a Europa continental e a Groenlândia (Gronelândia em português europeu). O país tem uma população de 360 mil habitantes em uma área de cerca de 103 mil quilômetros quadrados.[5] A sua capital e maior cidade é Reiquiavique,[2] cuja área metropolitana abriga cerca de dois terços da população nacional. Devido à sua localização na dorsal mesoatlântica, a Islândia tem uma grande atividade vulcânica e um importante gradiente geotérmico, o que afeta muito a sua paisagem. O interior é constituído principalmente por um planalto caracterizado por campos de areia, montanhas e glaciares. Aquecida pela corrente do Golfo, a Islândia tem um clima temperado em relação à sua latitude e oferece um ambiente habitável.

Iceland (Icelandic: Ísland; [ˈistlant] (About this soundlisten))[d] is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantic Ocean and the most sparsely populated country in Europe.[e][13] The capital and largest city is Reykjavík. Reykjavík and the surrounding areas in the southwest of the country are home to over two-thirds of the population. Iceland is volcanically and geologically active. The interior consists of a plateau characterised by sand and lava fields, mountains, and glaciers, and many glacial rivers flow to the sea through the lowlands. Iceland is warmed by the Gulf Stream and has a temperate climate, despite a high latitude just outside the Arctic Circle. Its high latitude and marine influence keep summers chilly, and most of its islands have a polar climate.
