The Ethereum Merge might not be what you think. Are there any hidden risks and what does this all mean for future prices of ETH? Ethereum ($ETH) is about to release a major upgrade called the Merge. It is an attempt to switch from proof of work model to proof of stake. Currently, miners must race to solve complex computing puzzles but it would consume enormous amounts of energy. Switching to PoS would help solve the environmental criticism. However there is not a firm date of the merge.
