Showing the relationship between the formations and development of hurricanes, and solar xray flux.
It has been claimed that solar xrays provide the energy required for storms to form, and that tropical rotating storms require elevated xray flux to form.
The relationship is inconclusive. If xray flux is a factor in hurricane formation, then it is one of multiple factors.
The hurricane animation is from NASA.
The xray plot is generated by me, using NASA data and their example python code.
