I found a cleaner source!

Hi everyone!

This video is the first in the series of Nicol Williamson (Merlin in Excalibur) performing "The Hobbit", by J.R.R. Tolkien. Specifically this is part 1 of 8.

This is another series inspired by books on tape I took out of the school library and enjoyed when I was a child. Don't worry, I returned them - this version was bought from eBay ;)

Excalibur started life as a slated film version of Lord of the Rings, in which Nicol Williamson would have played Gandalf! The project fell apart, then turned into Excalibur, with Williamson playing Merlin. But we do still have this amazing audio book.

These tapes are very old and the quality fluctuates quite a bit - the first tape actually fell apart after I recorded side 1 and I had to stick it back together before I could do side 2. Overall though, the quality is acceptable I think.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy these.

Dr Alex

P.S. I am sure BirdOPrey5 will love these too ;)
