Musical pencil sketches is for the aspiring songwriter, artist, producer or lover of music. It provides a peak behind the curtain of my own musical processes and shows you value in the song, not just the recording. It provides you a deeper look into the strongest reasons that I am an artist as you get to analyze things most important to me which are often the lyrics. Very little great art exists for its own sake. Usually there is something observed that drives motivation. Stay tuned for more. Subscribe, like, comment and share. I am a Christian, with Jewish heritage. This worldview colors everything I do. I observe more of life than religious themes so if something seems right, thank God. If it seems wrong, then realize this is art, not a theology class. God is still present and part of the discussion I’m attempting to have. He’s right even when I’m not. If we get into something interesting that causes each other to seek him, then it is time well spent.
You will soon realize that I’m an old school Jesus musician. The Jesus Music movie came out recently and I realize I don’t have much in common with it. When we played backyard parties, prisons, street locations, coffee houses, and a few rare churches brave enough to face the inevitable criticism, we did it to minister and evangelize. There was no industry giving us a shot. We loved Jesus and were compelled by a gift he’s given us that provided opportunity in places that were unique. Now with Covid rules, and an internet that has devalued music, pressuring people to re-invent their lives, new vistas may again open up for true disciples and artists. It feels like a new beginning. I hope you stay for the ride and bring others along.
