In devotion this morning I was reading in Proverbs chapter 9 about the wise woman and the foolish woman. It was so rich and full of insight. I saw two different women who truly represented the saved, and the ones who say they are saved and are not. Their actions and non-actions speak louder than words, and reveals who have received something from God and those who have not. Who are His and who are not.

This chapter came alive this morning when I looked at these two women and their ways. Those that have been truly regenerated bear about the life of the Father and the Son by virtue of the Holy Spirit within them. This life of God within causes them to get up and live, to go out and prosper in the life God has given to them. They are always looking to pass on the eternal stream of living waters and bread of life to others, and never live to themselves.

They that are not alive in the Spirit are like the foolish woman who want all the trappings of the Christian life, but have no heart for Christ. They know nothing and live for themselves. When they do offer something it is not theirs, but something stolen to give away. They are not born again, they are not regenerated.

These two women seem also to represent the true body of Christ, and the other the false body that has no heart for Christ and offers nothing. One offers eternal life and the other eternal death. In this chapter there is such a stark difference between the two that it is breathtaking.

"True spirituality manifests itself in certain dominant desires. First is the desire to be holy rather than happy. A man may be considered spiritual when he wants to see the honor of God advanced through his life even if it means that he himself must suffer temporary dishonor or loss. The spiritual man wants to carry his cross.

Again, a Christian is spiritual when he sees everything from God’s viewpoint. Another desire of the spiritual man is to die right rather than to live wrong. The desire to see others advance at his expense. The spiritual man habitually makes eternity-judgments instead of time-judgments." ~A.W. Tozer
