Coffee & Cataracts - How I (tried) to Make Coffee in My Minivan ☕️

Travel day!

Yep - I know...SPEAK UP! 👍🏻😬🤣

Here’s the gist...This morning we were out the door at 5:30 a.m. 🤮 for Jay’s cataract (1 of 2) surgery. Thankfully the hospital was only 40ish minutes down the road...

I decided to try my little thrift store 5 cup coffee maker in the KarahVan only to find out the wattage during brew was too much for the E500 Jackery. I do have an inverter built in (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan) but it kept tripping the strip...So I plugged in AC straight to the Jackery (and it drew too much so that won't be a future option).

Maybe I need an AC to DC adapter? Or, just get a DC coffee maker I suppose...something much less wattage wise.

But my thrift store coffee maker!! Ugh. Oh well.

Since I won’t be purchasing another battery unit anytime soon, I am looking for a better way to do coffee in the minivan...BUT I was able to get a couple cups - one for me, and one for Jay when he was done with his surgery 😎

On the road again tomorrow to see doc, one day post op. Stay tuned...I'll make a pot of coffee at home this time.

I think we may have found a good 12 volt coffee maker for the car by Dunlop. Ships from the UK so it'll take a while but has good reviews.

Anyhoo - thanks for joining us on the journey!
