Luke 23:39-43 "The Promise"

The two thieves crucified next to Jesus have always fascinated me.
They have always represented for me…the simplicity of the decision.
The decision to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior…or not to.
And what better time to look at that decision…then on the day that we celebrate His resurrection.
You see, in the end…and that is what we get a glimpse of here…the end of the lives of these two men.
At the very end…all the excuses as to why you can’t, or you won’t acknowledge Jesus as Lord really doesn’t matter.
It comes down to a simple yes or no answer.
When you are standing in the presence of the King, and He opens the book of life…its either yes, your name is written there…or no…it isn’t.
There are no excuses written next to your name, no reasons you did not acknowledge Jesus as Lord…it’s just yes or no.
The account of these two men reminds us that we have a choice to make…and that we have right up until we take our last breath to make that choice.
God gives us every opportunity...in this life…to acknowledge His Son before we close our eyes for the last time on this earth.
