Ain't No Grave
Death couldn't hold Him down, and Jesus lives! This arrangement of "Ain't No Grave" by B.J. Collins and Bob Banerjee celebrates the promise of salvation. It was originally written in 1934 by a 12-year-old boy who had tuberculosis and was reportedly on his deathbed. His family gathered around him to pray for his health, and suddenly he leaped up out of the bed and spontaneously began singing. It became a legendary Appalachian folk song and was later recorded in 1946 by Sister Rosetta Tharpe in a slower, African American gospel style with barrelhouse piano. It was featured in the movie "Cool Hand Luke" and had a couple of resurgences in popularity when Johnny Cash and Russ Taff recorded their versions of it. Molly Skaggs, the daughter of Ricky Skaggs, wrote the new verses for the song in 2019 and recorded that version with Bethel Worship.
