They caught their FIRST fish! Bass, Bluegill, and Catfish with Family & Friends

When the family wants to go fishing, you go fishing. We had a great time fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish with our friends at their pond and the kids even caught their first fish!

Megan got the action started by catching a small bass, and Riley was up next with a pretty good sized bluegill. I also caught a small bass before Megan landed another fish – a bluegill this time. Keeton surprised us all (and himself) when he landed that catfish. The bobber went under and he started reeling, and when that fish broke the surface I grabbed the net and scooped him up onto the dock. It was by no means a monster but I think that cat was about all Keeton’s little Spiderman rod and reel wanted to handle.

We really enjoy fishing but it’s hard to make time to go and fish. I’m so glad we spent a few hours on a random Saturday in August to do this, and watching the excitement on the kids’ faces when they landed their fish made us real proud parents. It was a great way to spend an afternoon with family and friends. Next time Jordan invites us down I think we’ll bring a cooler so we can bring some fish home! Side note: in typical “me” fashion I cannot quit thinking about getting our pond in order so we can stock it with some fish. One day, Ragon, one day.
