Here’s how it works: You drink a low-cal detox smoothie from The Smoothie Diet digital recipe book (a $47 cost) for at least two (if not all) of your three meals for three weeks. Then, you repeat the three-week cycle as many times as you want.

The result: You drop weight quickly. After all, on the diet, you’ll be bringing your daily calorie intake down to as low as 1,200 calories a day, according to registered dietitian Wesley Delbridge, R.D., a spokesman for the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. If you go from consuming 2,000 calories per day to consuming three 400-calories smoothies per day, of course you will lose weight and, likely, quickly, he says.
