Modular Barn Stall from FREE Pallets!

We used pallets and reclaimed materials to build a hinged wall in our barn! We use this stall for our livestock guardian dog, our dairy goats, and to finish beef cattle so flexibility was very important. We knocked this DIY build out in an afternoon and we’re so happy with the results! Baby goats are coming in just a few weeks – subscribe to the channel so you won’t miss them!

We use pallets for a LOT of purposes here on our homestead. Last year Megan built a kidding stall for our dairy goat doe Violet so she could give birth to her babies without pressure from the other girls. Now we decided to do a similar project in the other stall – turning one big stall into two smaller ones. But this dividing wall isn’t designed to be permanent. Because our needs change (sometimes it’s a place for dogs and goats, and sometimes it’s a place where we grain finish our beef cattle) this wall is actually hinged on both sides so those few times a year when we need a big stall we still have it without a whole lot of extra work.

This stall was almost perfectly three pallets wide so we didn’t have a lot of extra work to make the pallets fit. We attached welded wire fencing to the front of the pallet to goat-proof the new wall (those little boogers are shifty) and attached the pallet to the wall with BIG hinges and lag screws. This modular wall is designed with a small gate on one side (we open this one frequently) and a large double-pallet-gate on the other. We installed a drop rod on the big gate to hold it in place and used a regular gate latch on the small gate.

This quick project has already turned out to be huge help and we’re certain it will prove to be invaluable going forward. Thanks for watching this video and for all your support – see y’all soon!
