Last Chance Cat Ranch has appeal denied by City of Lethbridge - April 14, 2022

An animal rescue in Lethbridge will need to move to a new location within a year or face some hefty fines. On Thursday the city announced it has denied an appeal made by the Last Chance Cat Ranch. After a neighbour brought forward multiple complaints, the rescue shelter was ordered to shut down or find a new location because it did not have the proper development and zoning permits and needed to limit its number of volunteers. The Cat Ranch appealed and a hearing was held at City Hall on March 31st where oral and written arguments were heard; but that appeal was denied.

If the Cat Ranch does not comply with this order they could be fined up to $10,000. A further appeal can be made to the Alberta Court of Appeal.
