BMW X3 M40I 2022 arrives with 387 hp, 6 inline engine

The most powerful, fast and technological cars produced in Brazil are from BMW. With 387hp, the new BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i arrive in the country with an updated look and plenty of power to keep the BMW DNA of Pure Driving Pleasure firm and strong.

Both have become more sporty, and have in common a striking design in elements such as the dual laser headlights, the grille with the visually integrated double kidney, the front bumper with large air intakes and the 21-inch wheels.

While the X3 has a traditional SAV look, the X4 bets on the more daring look, called SAC, it features a sharp roof drop, typical of Coupé cars, to further increase its sportiness. The taillights are LED in both models and have a three-dimensional design, giving a futuristic and sporty look, regardless of body style.

Both are equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Professional. Two high-resolution 12.3-inch screens display vehicle information and infotainment system – the latter being touch-sensitive and compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

The air conditioning has automatic climate control with three zones and the sunroof is of the panoramic type. In addition to the cup holder, the new center console accommodates the gear selector lever, buttons for the start/stop system and engine start, electric parking brake, multimedia control, among other vehicle commands.

Under the hood, BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i use the same engine. It is a BMW M six-cylinder in-line engine, 2,998cm³, TwinPower Turbo, which yields 387hp of power (between 5,800 and 6,500rpm) and 500Nm of maximum torque (between 1,900 and 5,000rpm). In addition to being the most powerful, the new models are also the fastest cars produced in Brazil. They accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5s, and the top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic, with paddles behind the steering wheel for manual shifts. All-wheel drive on demand.

The M pinch is also present in the handling. Starting with the M seats and steering wheel, which combine comfort and sportiness in the right measure. The feeling of agility is enhanced thanks to the Servotronic variable sport steering, capable of providing a more direct and agile steering with less steering effort; the M sports suspension, equipped with adjustable dampers; and Performance Control, a device responsible for controlling the wheels individually, making it possible to improve the vehicle's driving dynamics. To complete the sportiness, the interior finish is full of carbon fiber.

High-end versions of their respective models, the BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i are packed with everything available in terms of technology and connectivity in the BMW world. This is the case with the Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant Plus and Surround View systems, with a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors. Driving Assistant offers intelligent driving in slow traffic situations or on long journeys, informing the driver, through visual and audible alerts, of cross-traffic conditions, risks of a rear-end collision.

With the My BMW App, it is possible to activate remote functions such as locating the vehicle, locking and unlocking the car, turning on the headlights, turning on the horns and activating the car's ventilation.
The new BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i are already on pre-sale and arrive at BMW dealerships in Brazil in February 2022 with a suggested price of R$580,950 and R$603,950, respectively.
