God's Call To Judah For Repentance & Restoration Is. 59:16-21
• Is 59:16-17 God would, in fact, act to rescue the nation from enemy armies (Assyria and Babylon) and to punish wicked Israelites as well. He would also rescue his people from sin. Because redemption is an impossible task for any human, God himself, as the Messiah, would personally step in to help. Whether we sin once or many times, out of rebellion or out of ignorance, our sin separates us from God and will continue to separate us until God forgives us and removes it.

• Is 59:18-19 As the enemies of his people have treated them, so will the Lord deal with them; as they have shed their blood, He will, according to the laws of retribution and retaliation, give them blood to drink, as they deserve. The church's adversaries and enemies are Christ's, and so he esteems them; and therefore His wrath and fury is poured out by way of recompence to them, for all the ill they have done. God's justice system will make the inhabitants of the West and East to fear Him, while the Holy Spirit helps the Believer to successfully resist the enemy's insurgence.

• Is. 59:20-21 Isaiah prophesied God's salvation plan to both the repentant Gentiles and Jews upon mount Zion (the church). This salvation plan is accomplished by God-the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit dwells within his people, they change. Their former desires no longer entice them; now their chief aim is to please God. We who are Christians today are the heirs of this prophecy; we are able to respond to God's will and distinguish between good and evil because the Holy Spirit dwells within us.
