Seattle City Council Silent After Deadly Weekend of Gun Violence in the City

After a deadly weekend of gun violence in Seattle, many people who live in these impacted neighborhoods are now criticizing the City Council for not showing up to check on constituents or answer questions about public safety.

Councilmember Andrew Lewis represents Pioneer Square, the scene of several shootings on Sunday. Lewis also serves Belltown where one man was shot to death after a bar fight. Instead of directly answering our questions about the city’s uptick in violence, a council spokesperson told us to watch pre-recorded messages by Lewis and Safety Chair Lisa Herbold on the topic.
