2018 Opossum Adventures: Evacuating One From Our Attic

Jan 2018, the day after minor roof damage left a whole in the edge of our roof, this little critter scurried in one night (the day before we repaired the roof). Hole repaired, we hoped he had scurried out during the night, else he was trapped. Eventually, we could tell he was still in there - trapped. After almost two weeks up there, we figured he had died; but when we went to try to find him, he was alive.

Before proceeding, we watched a few videos online about the Virginia #opossum and found that they are all bark (or hiss) and really no bite. So, with that confidence, we faced him with less fear.

We tried very hard to keep from hurting him in the process, and he was a big, tough and strong one, but with a little effort we finally got him out without hurting him. At the end I was pushing him the opposite way on the fence, away from the tree that would give him access to the roof.
