Utah Sen. Mitt Romney and two other Republican senators were the target of nasty rhetoric for pledging to support Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, none more vitriolic than the words spewing from a conservative firebrand in Congress.

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called Romney and Sens. Lisa Murkowski, of Alaska, and Susan Collins, of Maine, “pro-pedophile” in a Twitter rant.

“Any Senator voting to confirm #KJB is pro-pedophile just like she is. There are MANY more qualified black women judges, that actually can define what a woman is, but Biden chose the one that protects evil child predators. And then Romney, Murkowski, and Collins vote for her,” Greene wrote in a series of tweets Monday.

Ketanji Brown Jackson (born Ketanji Onyika Brown; /kəˈtɑːndʒi/ kə-TAHN-jee; September 14, 1970)[1] is an American attorney and jurist who has served as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since 2021.[2] She is the designate Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, having received Senate confirmation on April 7, 2022, with 50 Democrats and 3 Republicans voting to confirm as well as 47 Republicans voting against confirmation.[3]

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Miami, Florida, Jackson attended Harvard University for college and law school, where she served as an editor on the Harvard Law Review. She began her legal career with three clerkships, including one with U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer. Prior to her elevation to an appellate court, from 2013 to 2021, she served as a district judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Jackson was also vice chair of the United States Sentencing Commission from 2010 to 2014.[4] Since 2016, she has been a member of the Harvard Board of Overseers.

On February 25, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Jackson to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, filling the vacancy created by Breyer's retirement.[5] If sworn in, Jackson would be the first black woman to sit on the Supreme Court.[6] Jackson was confirmed by the Senate, 53–47, on April 7, 2022, to succeed Breyer.[7]
