What differentiates Budo from a fight sport? Perhaps many things. One aspect is the spiritual dimension. The goal of sport is to win. The goal of Budo is to overcome the weaknesses of the ego-self. Are we this body with a soul? Or are we a soul on an eternal quest with a temporary body? Is there more to existence than this brief sojourn of birth, school, work, disease, old age and death?
There'd better be! Or what is the point? Today, we're having a good discussion about the spiritual dimension of the martial arts and what role it plays in the life of all.
Let me know what you thoughts about religion, the spiritual path and what role they play in your life and training.
