Danny Lake, comedian from San Jose, California joins me in hour 2.
Born in Chicago, 1950.
On December 1, 1958, Danny survived the Our Lady of the Angles school fire in Chicago but 99 kids were killed in that fire. He escaped unharmed from the second floor.
In 1959 Danny’s family moved to California. Danny has lived in California ever since.
Danny started doing comedy in theatre classes in college in 1968 and continued to write comedy sets but he did not do stand-up until 2019 when a friend dared him to enter a comedy competition. He bombed. The embarrassment of that first time on stage was incentive to get better at stand-up.
He’s performed about 135 sets at small clubs in California, Washington, Nevada and Vancouver, Canada
His most popular sets are titled “It’s Cool to be Old”, “I know I’m Stupid”, “Life Makes No Sense”, “Dating is Tough”, and “I’m an Italian Catholic, A Greasy, Guilt-Ridden Person”.
During the COVID break Danny put stand-up videos on YouTube at the site Danny Lake Comedian. He will be dropping two more videos by the end of this week.
Danny is a coffee hound and gets his daily brew from beans roasted at the Brooklyn Brewing Company in New York—5 pounds of Italian Roast beans a month, like clockwork. He has a built in Meile Coffee Machine at home which serves up the best cup of coffee in this world……
Danny still gets nervous and poops his pants before performing comedy sets on stage but he’s so old that, thank goodness, it comes out dust.
Danny holds a handful of college degrees including a Doctorate.
