Goslings packed in the pool. Others sit and wait their turn
It is quite comical watching goslings take their turn. The gosling standing was kicked out of the pool just before I started the video. Goslings are so much fun to watch.

Bert, My special needs goose, and Wheezy take bath in a mud puddle
Finally some snow has melted. They’ve been patiently waiting all winter for this. These two geese found the only mud puddle and decided to take a bath. They had a blast. Bert’s wry neck doesn’t slow him down. Wheezy and Bert are great friends.

Bert, My special needs goose, one month old uses foot to kick head
Bert started kicking himself in his head as he would walk. Why he would do this I don’t know for sure, but I think he would do this to keep his head straight looking forward. This would randomly continue for next next couple of months. He discontinued doing this. He now has full control and keeps his head forward.

Bert, My special needs goose has early issues twisting neck
As Bert grew he would start twisting his neck. This resolved as he gained control of his neck and built up the muscle needed to keep his head straight. When I would see his doing this, I would put his head back to the correct position. Eventually Bert kept his head forward.

Curly, the Sebastopol goose making nest in pool
This is in honor to Curly. My friend Leah’s gander. She lost him this fall. This video makes her smile. She said no matter how many times she would empty and fill the pool, He just HAS TO make a nest. Curly is eating in greener pastures and making lots of nests in heaven.

Get your geese to come when you call them
It is easy to train your geese with grapes. The geese love grapes. I usually cut them in half. I can open the door and yell Num Nums and they come flying in. This came in handy one day when they decided to go on the road. It is nice to have them come when called.

Ernie, my special needs goose eating and drinking
Ernie eats his food with his head sideways so he needs a larger container for the food and water. He stands in a container when eating to help keep from falling over. I placed a backboard by the water because he tends to swing his head. Ernie has a great appetite and never complains.

One month old Tater Tot’s struggle to walk.
Honestly I didn’t know if Tater Tot would walk independently. One leg was strong. The other leg weak. Today Tater Tot walks and runs. Still might fall over sometimes, but can successfully get back up. It took time, but all worked out.

Bert and Tater Tot. Two geese swimming.
I didn’t let Bert swim for a long time. It took awhile for him to gain full control of his neck. I couldn’t stand the thought of him drowning. Tater Tot at this time still was struggling with walking. The pool was therapeutic and helped his progress.

Meet Tater Tot, hatched with displaced tendon
Tater Tot was born with a displaced tendon. The tendon was on the side of his leg and needed to be correctly braced in place. With some therapy and patience, Tater Tot has grown into a lively goose. He still falls over once in awhile, but can walk and run on his own. This goose is a character and loves to get into mischief. Very curious, and a great cuddle buddy. Tater Tot hangs out with his friend Ernie everyday.

Ernie A special needs goose with Bert.
Ernie is about 2 weeks old here. Ernie hatched out of the egg all by himself with zero help. I really didn’t think he would make it. This goose had such a strong will to survive. It impressed me. He is now full grown and is a very happy goose. He is a fun character to have around. He uses a wheelchair to help his balance issues

This is Bert after hatch. I tried bracing the neck and multiple supplements. The bracing just made him worse. He had some set backs. The first week he needed some help eating. I am happy to let everyone know he is doing very well and lives a happy independent life.
